General Writing Workshops

Fall 2020 Workshops

The Writing Lab offers free workshops for all Purdue students, staff, and faculty to get hands-on practice with different aspects of writing in an interactive, small-group setting.

Workshops are from 10:30-11:30, via Zoom, on the dates below. To sign up, use the Virtual Group Programs tab in MyWCO using the online scheduler

Fall 2020 Workshop Schedule 

Crafting Résumés and CVs

  • Date: Tuesday, September 8th
  • Description: Applying for an on-campus or off-campus job? Planning to attend the virtual Industrial Roundtable? Need help with getting started or updating your resume or CV? Join us for our Resume and CV workshop for advice and support. 

Writing Cover Letters

  • Date: Friday, September 11th 
  • Description: Whether you're applying to a job/internship or crafting your cover letter for future opportunities, we would love to support you as you start, draft, and/or revise. 
Getting Started on Writing Assignments 
  • Date: Friday, September 25th 
  • Description: Not sure what to write? Feeling overwhelmed with your writing assignments? Join us as we discuss tips, tricks, and strategies for getting started.
Drafting Personal Statements 
  • Date: Tuesday, October 13th
  • Description: A personal statement provides professional programs the opportunity to learn more about you. Join our workshop to learn how to get started, revise, or learn tips and tricks.
Integrating Sources and Citations 
  • Date: Tuesday, November 3rd
  • Description: This workshop is aimed at helping you integrate outside sources into your writing assignments through quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing. We will also provide tips and resources for in-text citations and reference pages. 
Revising and Self-Editing Documents 
  • Date: Friday, November 13th 
  • Description: Join us to learn strategies for revising and editing your academic, professional, and personal writing.

Tutoring Schedule & Locations

Schedule a tutoring appointment at any location or register for our group programs with our online scheduler.
